Community Outreach Programs:
Citizen Artist & Opening Night
Citizen Artist Program
The Citizen Artist Program is SSPA’s school-based outreach initiative, designed to bring California Arts Standards–aligned theatre and dance education directly into public school classrooms throughout Marin County. Through hands-on, creative instruction, the program supports SSPA’s mission to make high-quality arts education accessible to all children who demonstrate artistic curiosity, creativity, and passion.
Classroom visits include engaging, age-appropriate dance and/or theatre classes led by SSPA faculty. Each session is thoughtfully designed to enrich students’ learning experience, encourage self-expression, and introduce young students to the joy, creativity, and confidence found in the performing arts.

Opening Night
Students who have been ignited by our Citizen Artist Program are invited to take the next step through Opening Night, a free trial week taking place March 1–7, 2026, that welcomes students ages 3–10 to experience Stapleton School of the Performing Arts on campus. During this special week, students may enroll in up to two age-appropriate theatre and dance classes, giving them the opportunity to explore our training, meet faculty, and discover the joy of learning in a creative, supportive environment.
