Come join us as we mount the 6th annual production of the musical version of the Dickens classic A CHRISTMAS CAROL. Open auditions Sept. 10 & 14, 7:00 pm, Stapleton main studio.

We are proud to announce that JENNIFER JAFFE has joined our faculty as an Upper Division Ballet Instructor. Jennifer was a founding member of Smuin Ballets/ S.F. where she danced lead roles in Michael Smuin ballets such as The Tempest Suite, Songs of Mahler, Stravinsky Piano Pieces, and The Christmas Ballet. While a member of Smuin Ballets, Jennifer performed at Carnegie Hall in the live telecast of Ira Gershwin at 100 as well as dancing in the films the Fantasticks, A Walk in the Clouds, and Return of the Jedi Special Edition. In addition to Smuin Ballets/SF, Jennifer has also danced with the San Francisco Opera, Houston Grand Opera, Sacramento Ballet, and Ohio Ballet. Jennifer is currently on staff at California Academy of Performing Arts in Moraga and a faculty member at Sonoma State University where she teaches ballet and dance history. Jennifer also recently earned her Master's degree in history from Sonoma State University. Welcome to the Stapleton Family!

This week CYNTHIA STANLEY leads the Graham component of our Intensive. Cynthia Anne Stanley was born and raised in Marin County and is a Stapleton School Alum. She received her BFA in Dance Performance at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas. After arriving in New York, Cynthia began teaching at the Martha Graham School, including outreach pro-grams in New York City public schools. She has choreographed and danced for Stapleton School of Performing Arts, Off Spring Dance Company, Contemporary Ballet Dallas, choreographer Zenobia Taylor, Red Wall Dance Theatre, Talent Unlimited High School as well as choreographed for The Martha Graham Ensemble and School with a featured work presented in the Graham Company's Gala in 2011. She has a collaborative dance theatre group, Bardos Ballet Theatre, which premiered in September ’09 at Dance New Amsterdam. The Summer Intensive, Shape & Design, begins today! We welcome an impressive array of guest instructors. Today, we profile Graham instructor OLIVER TOBIN. OLIVER TOBIN joined the Martha Graham Dance Company in 2007 and has performed leading roles in El Penitente, Diversion of Angels, Clytemnestra, Embattled Garden, and Appalachian Spring, amongst others. His off-Broadway credits include The Kentucky Cycle, Nirvanov, The Lesser Magoo, and Tallahassee. Mr. Tobin is a graduate of the American Musical & Dramatic Academy, Sivananda Yoga Institute, and Empire State College where he holds of Bachelor of Arts degree in both Theatre and Dance. He currently serves on faculty at the Martha Graham School of Contemporary Dance, LaGuardia Performing Arts High School, Adelphi University, and Kaatsbaan International Dance Center where he is the Vice President of the board of directors. ... Best wishes to Daisy Phillips & Miles Smith! They are both graduating today from Drake High School. Miles has performed in Hairspray, Honk, Seussical and the Nutcracker (as Mother Ginger, below). Daisy has been involved with Stapleton Theatre since its inception! She has been on stage and worked on the crew. She is on the right in the second picture, as Thing 2 from Seussical. These two talents are like family to us and we wish them nothing but the best. Onward and Upward!
