A native Californian, Jamaica has been studying various
forms of dance since age six. She received her early training
with the Royal Academy of Dance and the Marin Ballet, and
went on to continue her training as a dance major at the
State University of New York at Purchase. Throughout her
post-collegiate dancing career, Jamaica has had the opportunity
to perform with myriad dance companies, ensemble groups,
and local dancers and choreographers, including Michael Parra
and Nomad Dance Company, Rose Paquerillo and Vertigo Dance
Company, and Cynthia Krempetz and Offspring Dance Company.
She is also a founding member of the Marin Choreographers
Collective and she regularly choreographs works and performs
with the group. Jamaica is beginning her teaching tenure
with the Stapleton School this year.
