The Stapleton Ballet presents a fabulous new version of this classic lighthearted ballet, which tells the enchanting story of Doctor Coppélius, who has made a life-size dancing doll. It is so life-like that Franz, a village swain is infatuated with it, setting aside his true heart's desire, Swanilda, who in Act II shows him his folly, by dressing as the doll and pretending to come to life. We are honored to have Jorge Esquivel, world-renowned premier danseur playing the role of Dr. Coppélius. He brings to life his daughter, Cuban-trained ballerina Yoira Esquivel Brito, starring in the role of Swanhilda. Romantic lead Franz will be performed by Charles Torres. The youthful, energetic Stapleton Company dancers join these renowned professionals to present a delightful, entertaining production for the entire family. This enchanting ballet, set to the original score by Léo Delibes and re-staged and choreographed by Yoira Esquivel-Brito and Virginia Stapleton, is guaranteed to please audiences of all ages.
