Dear Stapleton School of Performing Arts families,
We are writing to share the news of a very exciting development at our school. This past week, our board of directors has agreed to add a new theatre arts division to the school, for a trial period of one year. The core program for this new division will be a community theatre production workshop modeled after the organization formerly known as Town Players. The former advisory board of the Town Players has proposed this new program, and they bring energetic and passionate volunteers, great talent, and production expertise under the Stapleton roof. The group’s mission and operating philosophy are remarkably similar to ours, with a strong emphasis on inclusiveness as well as using the performing arts as a vehicle to develop the whole person. One of the most unique aspects of this theatre company is that it is a multigenerational theater group. Parents perform alongside their children, and everyone pitches in on all aspects of the production process (set building, costuming, etc). Some of our talented Stapleton dancers and/or families have participated in productions in the past, and all agree that this program is a wonderful match for our school!
The first show we will produce is Annie, with performances at The Playhouse in May (for more info please call 602-0616). In addition to the theatre productions, we hope to offer new acting, music and dance classes as part of our theatre arts division. Our board of directors and faculty are very excited about the new division, and all agree that this expansion will further endorse Stapleton School as the premiere performing arts venue in Marin County.
As we develop this program and shape its integration, we want very much to have your input as to how this new division can best meet your children’s needs. Also if you have concerns about this new addition, please share those with us so we can either allay your fears or integrate your ideas as we tweak and develop this program over the coming year. Please feel free to email, call, or stop by and share your thoughts on this exciting new program.
Sincerely,
Artistic Director & Founder
Executive Director
